{"id":1074,"date":"2019-11-14T10:58:56","date_gmt":"2019-11-14T09:58:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ucrc-mali.org\/?p=1074"},"modified":"2019-11-14T11:02:17","modified_gmt":"2019-11-14T10:02:17","slug":"4-annual-review-of-the-hiv-tb-d43-training-grant-the-workshop-started-on-november-13","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ucrc-mali.com\/?p=1074","title":{"rendered":"4 annual review of the HIV- TB D43 training grant: The workshop started on November 13"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ucrc-mali.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_2977.jpg?fit=700%2C467\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1076\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The HIV-TB D43 annual grant symposium is held from Wednesday 13 to Friday 15 November 2019 at the Azalai Grand Hotel in Bamako. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nopening ceremony of this meeting, which brings together some thirty\nparticipants, took place in Azalai grand hotel of Bamako, in the presence of the\nUCRC Director, Professor Seydou Doumbia, the NIH representatives, \u2026The HIV and\nMycobacterial Disease Research and Training Program in Mali which started in April\n2016 ends in March 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why\nthis program?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nMali and many parts of Africa, the incidence of mycobacterial infection is high\nand driven in a large part by the overlapping HIV epidemic. MTB and MAF, both\nclosely related members of the M. tuberculosis complex (MTBC), as well as NTM,\ncause serious human mycobacterial infection and disease in West Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The\nprogram aims to: <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Produce and enhance the careers of\nlaboratory investigators capable of performing advanced research on the\nmolecular biology, genetics, immunology, virology, pathogenesis and\nmicrobiology of HIV-associated mycobacterial infection <\/li><li>Train research scientists to perform\nanalyses on the epidemiology, behavioral, operational, implementation and\nhealth systems research relevant to HIV-associated mycobacterial infection and\ndisease <\/li><li>Train clinician researchers to\nperform clinical investigations and trials on interventions for the diagnosis\nand treatment of adult and pediatric patients with HIV-associated mycobacterial\ninfection <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The\nType of Trainings are: <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In\nShort Term:<\/strong> Annual Symposium, Expert Faculty\nWorkshops, Malian Faculty Enrichment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In\nMedium Term:<\/strong> Diploma Mycobacteriology, Diploma\nHIV, Diploma Retrovirology, Diploma Pediatric HIV\/TB. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In\nLong Term:<\/strong> Masters USTTB: Public Health, Masters\nUSTTB: Microbiology, Masters USTTB: Bioinformatics, Master NU: MSCI, Masters\nGlobal Health: on line, PhD: Microbiology, Mentored Research Award. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The HIV-TB D43 annual grant symposium is held from Wednesday 13 to Friday 15 November 2019 at the Azalai Grand Hotel in Bamako.
