Dr. Dabitao selected as recipient"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dr. Djeneba Dabitao, Chief of the ImmunoCore Laboratory at the\nUniversity Clinical Research Center (UCRC) has been selected as the recipient\nof the 2021 TWAS-Abdool Karim Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award recognizes women scientists in Low Income African countries\nfor their achievements in Biological Sciences. The award ceremony took place\non-line on the occasion of the forthcoming TWAS 15th General conference, on 1 November\n2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucrc-mali.org\/?p=638\">Who is Djeneba Dabitao?<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chief of the ImmunoCore Laboratory at the University Clinical\nResearch Center (UCRC), Dr. Djeneba Dabitao received her doctorate in Pharmacy\nfrom the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Odonto-Stomatology (FMPOS) of the\nUniversity of Bamako (aka University of Sciences of Techniques and Technologies\nof Bamako [USTTB]) in 2004.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same year, she was recruited as a Junior Scientist at SEREFO\nLaboratory, an NIH-funded program, to study the pathogenesis of HIV and\nTuberculosis co-infection. In 2007, she went to the United States for her\nMaster of Science training followed by a Ph.D. training at the Johns Hopkins\nBloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) At Hopkins, she specialized in\nMolecular Biology and Immunology and obtained her doctoral degree in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She returns in Mali the same year to start a Senior Scientist position\nat UCRC. In 2016, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Faculty of\nPharmacy of the USTTB, while pursuing her research position at UCRC.
