Bamako: USTTB launches inaugural edition of its Scientific Days

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Bouréma KANSAYE, presided over the official opening of the first edition of the Scientific Days of the University of Sciences, Techniques, and Technologies of Bamako (USTTB) on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

The event took place in the presence of several government members, notably the Ministers of Agriculture, Mines, and National Education, as well as the Sub-Prefect of Kalabancoro.

Centered around the main theme “Sciences and Technologies for Development,” this inaugural edition aims to be a platform for promoting research, innovation, and interdisciplinary exchanges. The proceedings are structured around three major thematic pillars: Science, Technology, and Innovation; Health and Biomedical Sciences; and Agriculture, Food, and Sustainable Development.

The scientific program promises to be particularly dense, featuring 268 oral presentations, about forty posters, and six plenary sessions. According to Minister Bouréma KANSAYE, this initiative strengthens collaboration between disciplines and highlights research capable of providing concrete solutions to national challenges.

The Rector of USTTB, Professor Mahamadou DIAKITE, recalled the institutional weight of the university, which currently counts: 18,000 students, 600 lecturer-researchers and researchers, and 23 official research centers and units, including the prestigious University Clinical Research Center (UCRC).

A Bridge Between the Academic World and the Professional Sector

“These days constitute a privileged framework for meetings, exchanges, and sharing between different actors from the scientific and professional worlds,” the Rector emphasized. They embody the institution’s desire to elevate academic excellence into a lever for the economic, social, and environmental progress of Mali and Africa.

USTTB thus reaffirms its fundamental mission: to train high-level professionals ready to face global changes through four clear objectives:

  • Promoting the results of internal research work.
  • Encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers.
  • Fostering bridges between the university and the socio-economic sector.
  • Stimulating creativity and an innovative spirit among students.
