On the occasion of the first USTTB Scientific Days, held under the theme “Sciences and Technologies for Development,” the University Clinical Research Center (UCRC) proudly made its modest contribution.
Hosted by Samba Lamine Cissé and his team, the booth offered simple, educational quizzes about the center’s research and history. A key focus was its critical role during the 2020 coronavirus outbreak in Mali. Visitors also walked away with informational brochures and small keepsakes, including T-shirts, caps, and keychains.
UCRC’s Historic Role Against COVID-19 in Mali
In March 2020, the UCRC’s molecular biology and genomics laboratory detected the very first cases of coronavirus in Mali. This major discovery served as the launching point for the Malian authorities’ national pandemic response.
It was a wonderful moment of simple, meaningful sharing, and we look forward to the next edition.
