A research project at the University Clinical Research Center (UCRC) in Bamako is studying “immune amnesia” in children aged 1 to 15. This phenomenon occurs when the measles virus wipes out previously acquired immune defenses against other diseases.
Led by Prof. Issa Konaté, an infectious and tropical diseases specialist and hospital practitioner at the Point G University Hospital, the study follows two cohorts of children. The goals are to confirm this hypothesis, quantify the loss of protective immune cells, and adapt public health management programs in Mali and the sub-region. More details on the VIDEO
